TIFs! Maybe you've heard of them, but few people totally understand them!
TIF stands for Tax Increment Financing. TIFs are economic development tools used to develop designated regions, but they can also be controversial. In St. Joseph County, for instance, the economic development office has chosen to put projects like solar fields and data centers into TIF districts, which means new tax money collected stays in the area around the project and isn't necessarily available to the county's general fund, schools, or libraries. Contact Your State Senator Today!
Redistricting is a crucial battle that could shape the midterms and America's future. For years, Democrats have employed gerrymandering and manipulated the census by counting illegal immigrants. It is now imperative for Republicans to take action.
Last Friday, the Indiana House passed a new congressional map with a vote of 57–41. On Monday, the Indiana Senate Elections Committee held a hearing and advanced the bill with a 6-3 vote, setting the stage for a full Senate floor vote later this week, possibly as early as tomorrow. Senate President Pro Tempore Rod Bray has consistently opposed redistricting, making the upcoming vote expected to be very close.
