Trivia Question: What president refused to declare Thanksgiving a holiday?
Thomas Jefferson was the president who refused to declare Thanksgiving a national holiday, believing it would violate the separation of church and state. He opposed federal proclamations of religious holidays, though he did observe state-level celebrations. His stance led to him being labeled the "anti-Thanksgiving president" by his political opponents.

Veteran's Day
“Veterans know better than anyone else the price of freedom, for they’ve suffered the scars of war. We can offer them no better tribute than to protect what they have won for us.”
~ President Ronald Reagan, 1983
Veteran's Day, initially known as Armistice Day, is observed on November 11th, marking the anniversary of the armistice that concluded World War I. In 1954, the name was changed to "Veteran's Day" to honor veterans from all wars.
"In Flanders Fields" is a renowned poem written during the First World War by officer and surgeon John McCrae, following the Second Battle of Ypres in Belgium in April 1915. This poem is perhaps the most famous poem of any war, leading to the poppy's tradition as a symbol of remembrance. Poppy seeds can remain dormant for years. It was not until after the soils of Western Europe were ravaged and churned by war that the poppies flourished, inspiring McCrae's haunting and poignant words.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place, and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We live, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
We express our deepest gratitude to our veterans.

Regardless of where you stand at the end of the day when it's time to vote you have to decide which party you are voting for, so it's best to do your homework and find out what the candidate stands for and if elected make sure they stand up to what they canvassed on, as elected officials are paid with taxpayer money and they should be representing you the voter!
